When we decide to become a scientist we consider that the knowledge of our science is crucial for our success. Rarely do we consider aspects such as writing or public speaking to be the skills we need the most to be a successful scientist. Science is communication. Identifying yourself as a scientist also means identifying yourself as a writer and as a presenter. Embracing these skills early on often determines the extent of your success. In the second lecture, we will provide you with simple strategies you can follow to find your own scientific voice through writing and through speaking. We provide evidence from research to highlight differences and similarities between people and what strategies you can take to accommodate your specific context.
